So first things first. We would like to thank everyone who came and supported us. If there is still interest perhaps we will do another next year. Any suggestions for dates. Also if we do this remember to tell everyone you think would be interested in playing.

Now to the interesting stuff. The tournment results which you will find after the break

Thanks

I promised a post and here it is.

Our Main Sponsor is Logitech who have supplied us with a few prizes and other giveaways. We have also gotten sponsorship from Alienware and we are still in talks with some others.

UPDATE: We are now getting sponsorship from Pepsi. They are going to do their best to keep us from getting thirsty with supplies of Pepsi and 7up.

The prizes are as follows.

There will be a prize for first place for the single player on PC. The game will depend on sign ups. The game with the most interest will get the prize. Currently it looks like that will be Call of Duty 4. The prize is a Logitech MX Revolution Mouse

There are prizes for first place in the PC team rournament. Currently it is for a Team of 4. Once again the game with the most interest will have the prizes and once again this is looking like it will be Call of Duty 4. The prizes are Alienware T-Shirts and large mouse pads.

The current final prizes will be for a tournament on the PS3. This is open for change depending on interest. The prize is a Logitech Mediaboard for PS3.

I know there are a lot of people coming to play Xbox 360 and I am working on something for you. The lack of third party peripherals has narrowed our options a bit but we will have something for you.

There are other smaller prizes for the other smaller tournaments and fun small competitions through the day and we are still working on other prizes. So what games are people looking forward to playing?

Carpooling!

Because this event is BYOB (Bring Your Own Box) this might cause some problems for some people without transport. If your not bringing a laptop, it is very awkward to drag a PC, monitor or Xbox and TV onto a bus.

This was highlighted by texong in the comments, but I think this deserves it’s own post!

We don’t want transport to be an issue with people and stopping them attending, so here is the official plea!

If you have a car, and are coming to CorkLAN next weekend, why not pick someone up along the way? Cork is a small place and from city centre to the airport it only takes about 10 minutes.

Leave your details in the comments or email us at events@corklan.com and we can hold onto your details or pass them onto someone.

Thanks, and it’s nice to be nice! :-)

Cork LAN Sponorship

Any Cork or National based companies out there interested in sponsoring Cork LAN?

Sponsorship can range from:
  • Name of the event – include your company name in the event name.
  • Competition sponsorship – “The your company challenge!”
  • Food Sponsorship – “Today’s meal is brought to you by your company!”
  • Area for your company at your event – show demo’s, answer questions, get your product out there.
  • T-Shirt sponsorship – Logo of your company on the event’s T-Shirt. We are still looking for Staff T-Shirts, or we can sell CorkLAN ones with your logo on it.
  • Banners Placement – Put up banners of your company around the room during the event.
  • WebSite Placement – Your company logo/banner on the Cork LAN website.
Sponsorship can range from one or many of these! We are very interest in competition sponsorship as it is easy to donate prizes, and everyone loves winning stuff!
So if you are interested in even donating a spot prize anything in value from €10 up, please contact us on events@corklan.com and we can organise something!
Thanks and please pass this onto anyone you might know who is willing to help out a new type of event in Cork!
